Dr. Teeters began his professional life by graduating from Johns Hopkins University with a master’s degree in environmental sciences and Policy. With a deep commitment to the environment, he spent nearly a decade serving with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Feeling a tug to help people thrive, he went on to earn his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC. He trained clinically at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and at multiple traditional mental health practices in the D.C. region. He completed his internship at the Central Virginia Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Richmond, Virginia and a subsequent postdoctoral fellowship at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Teeters’ empathetic and compassionate approach to therapy is highly personalized to each patient’s unique needs, strengths, and experiences while also firmly rooted in the evidenced-based principles of CBT, ACT, Clinical Hypnosis, and Mindfulness. He is also currently an adjunct professor of clinical psychology at The Chicago School in Washington, DC.
Dr. Teeters is licensed for in-person therapy in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and New York. He is also able to offer services through Telehealth via PsyPact in the majority of other states (see here for a full list).
Beyond helping people thrive in every area of their life and identity, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his partner and their dogs, and being near water and in nature. Dr. Teeters has a diverse palate and enjoys fine dining experiences around the world. He loves reading, sailing, watching every period piece available on streaming television, RuPaul's Drag Race, and dancing to "Radio Gaga" by Queen. Dr. Teeters tries to make the most out of life and be kind to everyone he meets.
Dr. Joshua Kline believes in providing a safe and supportive space for his clients. From a cognitive-behavioral approach, he aims to balance symptom relief in the present while managing life’s challenges and uncertainties. Along with this, he helps develop insight and depth into why one’s struggles may be happening. He values a strong therapeutic relationship as a channel for understanding and a way to foster open and honest dialogue. His therapeutic style can be described as compassionate, direct, solution-oriented, and mind-body-focused. Together, he and his clients create a personalized and flexible plan to build a more authentic and fulfilling life that aligns with their identity and values.
Dr. Kline provides individual therapy for a range of presentations, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, gender/sexuality, identity development, relationship and interpersonal issues, ADHD, life transitions, and stress. He works with adults, with a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, young adults transitioning to college and into the workforce, and those with ADHD.
Previously, Dr. Kline completed his APA-approved internship at Springfield Hospital Center. He earned both his master’s degree and doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington, DC campus. His doctoral thesis focused on the experiences of young adults with ADHD, self-esteem, and job satisfaction. He currently works under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Psychologist as he works toward licensure.
