PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

Assess. Evaluate. Understand.

Psychological testing is a comprehensive procedure that measures and identifies the interaction between cognition, processing capacities, and psychological functioning and their impact on academic and daily behavior. This sort of comprehensive testing is recommended for cases in which a detailed, yet general overview of functioning is requested.

Comprehensive Measures

Psychological evaluations are typically given for the following reasons:

  • To determine a psychiatric diagnosis.
  • To assist with treatment planning and recommendations.
  • To learn about an individual’s personality traits.
  • To determine a job candidate’s ability to perform a specific job.
  • To assess a person’s readiness for certain surgical procedures (e.g., gender confirmation, bariatric, spinal cord stimulator (SCS), or pain pumps).
  • To determine psychiatric disability.
  • To assess for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or specific learning disabilities (SLD).

Personalized Process

With a heart for delivering non-judgmental, personalized assessments and solutions, we ensure our process is compassionate and thorough.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Psychological testing allows us to better understand your mental health and psychiatric care needs.
  • You can expect to spend a few hours (generally 2 to 8 hours) at our office completing tests, interviews, or other information-gathering methods.
  • When you come in for a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, we start by putting together a detailed picture of your medical and family history, as well as compile past and current psychological, social, and biological information to help us understand your mental health in context.
  • We also complete a full psychiatric assessment. We may use questionnaires, various tests, and interview techniques to gather information about your mental health condition.
  • There are no wrong answers — we’re just trying to get a better sense of your strengths and areas of weakness, state of mind, psychological symptoms, and potential treatment needs.
  • The most crucial part is that you see your psychologist with an open mind, which will help to find the most appropriate evidence-based therapies for your condition.
  • Evidence-based and empirically supported results are then delivered in a comprehensive and professional report.
  • Suitable recommendations are compassionately and thoroughly shared with the client and their family (if applicable) during a feedback session.
