Welcome to CIBH!
At the Chesapeake Institute, we believe it is our responsibility to stay up-to-date with current research and advances in our field of Clinical Psychology so that when you entrust us with your care, our providers can confidently say that they are providing treatments that have the best science behind them. We also believe that people learn and grow best when they are in an environment of genuine compassion and support.
Science and Compassion: it’s a simple formula and one that is at the core of everything we do.
The Chesapeake Institute is a psychology practice located in Arlington, VA. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments.
Dr. Teeters is a health psychologist and offers a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients can feel welcome and safe. This allows clients the opportunity to express themselves deeply and identify their authentic selves.
Dr. Teeters has a positive and patient-centered approach and utilizes a biopsychosocial lens and believes every patient is unique and has different experiences and circumstances affecting them.
Dr. Teeters' approach is individualized to each patient’s unique needs, strengths, and experiences, yet it is firmly rooted in the evidenced-based principles of CBT, ACT, Clinical Hypnosis, and Mindfulness. His approach to therapy is empathetic and personal. He takes a direct and active approach in treatment, and finds that humor can sometimes be a helpful tool in coping with life stressors.
Dr. Teeters strives to help his patients to get and stay healthy, recover from injury or illness, manage stress, move through trauma, and/or cope with acute and chronic health and medical conditions. He is proficient in working with health/illness anxiety and a range of chronic physical health conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, cancers, traumatic brain injury, HIV, insomnia, and chronic pain. Our providers commit to planting one tree for EVERY session at the Chesapeake Institute. Not only will you be working on a better you, but you will be working to leave a better world for generations to come!
