The Chesapeake Institute for Dental Studies was established to provide private and group practices nationwide with the tools and knowledge that promote excellent dentistry within an environment in which every dental team member also recognizes that dentistry is a business.

Our vision is to create a premier institute of integrated dental studies on the East Coast. Beginning with a focus on clinical, administrative, and business principles that characterize hygiene department excellence, the Chesapeake Institute will eventually offer a wide spectrum of continuing education programs for dentists, dental assistants, and administrative personnel, including front desk coordinators and financial coordinators

Our Purpose

Most continuing education institutes for the dental profession work from the top down. The emphasis is first and foremost on the dentist, with the idea that the team and team members will sooner or later get the message through a trickle down effect.

Our programs work from the other direction. By putting the hygienist and other support personnel first, we have developed a template and mechanism for improving every practice dynamic. Ultimately, this design is better for the practice, the patient, and the team.

Our students learn in an environment that is designed to inculcate excellence. By inviting them to recognize their untapped potential, we train them to be confident, focused, motivated, and responsible individuals and team members.

Our initial objective is to focus on the hygienist with the goal of teaching skills and work habits that create a Master Hygienist who can:

l Integrate restorative and preventive dentistry l Help patients achieve optimal health through excellent clinical skills and people skills l Help an ordinary practice become an extraordinary practice l Create a department that is the model response to the Surgeon General's report on America's poor oral health   status l Understand the economics of dentistry and become active and knowledgeable partners in marketing, enhancing practice image, and improving case acceptance and patient retention in the entire practice.
